The Palisade History Museum is housed in a historic log building dating to 1939. The building once served as the office and shop for George Bunte Jr.’s Grand Junction-Palisade Freight Hauling business before eventually becoming Palisade’s first history museum.
After extensive renovation, the museum officially opened in 2021. Today, its climate-controlled interior protects artifacts and collections documenting Palisade’s past.

Construction on the CDOT Elberta Roundabout Project has made reaching the museum a little more complicated, but the museum remains accessible and open.
The Palisade Historical Society currently advises visitors to take 5th Street to Logan, travel south on Logan to 8th Street, and then follow 8th Street west to the museum.
The north frontage road in front of the museum is currently operating as a single-lane shared roadway, so drivers should proceed carefully.
