October 2026

The following events take place in Massachusetts communities located directly on US Route 6 or within a reasonable side trip from the highway. Dates and details were checked against currently available 2026 schedules. Travelers should confirm final times, admission prices and weather-related changes with organizers.

October 3

New Bedford Oktoberfest
20th year in 2026
Community: New Bedford
Event type: Food festival and community celebration
This annual South Coast celebration features beer, German-inspired food, live music and fundraising activities benefiting area youth and educational charities. New Bedford is easily reached from US Route 6.

Wareham Sip & Stroll Harvest Fest
Community: Wareham
Event type: Harvest festival, food festival and community market
Besse Park hosts vendors, food, shopping and seasonal activities near the beginning of the Cape Cod section of US Route 6.

Kalmus Car Meet
Community: Hyannis
Event type: Classic car and automotive show
Classic, vintage and special-interest vehicles gather at Kalmus Beach. The event traditionally includes a procession of vehicles through Hyannis and celebrates automotive history and hometown pride.

Cranberry Harvest Celebration
Community: Wareham
Event type: Agricultural event, food festival and heritage celebration
Visitors can learn about Massachusetts cranberry agriculture and watch a working harvest. Activities traditionally include demonstrations, local food, vendors and family attractions.

Yarmouth Seaside Festival
Community: South Yarmouth
Event type: Community festival, parade, arts and crafts fair and food festival
One of Cape Cod’s largest fall traditions includes more than 125 craft exhibitors, entertainment, children’s activities, food, a road race, beach events and other community programs. The festival takes place over Indigenous Peoples Day weekend.

Cape Cod British Car Club Show at Titcomb’s Bookshop
Community: Sandwich
Event type: Classic car and automotive show
British automobiles are displayed at Titcomb’s Bookshop on historic US Route 6A. The 2026 gathering is scheduled from approximately 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Pumpkin People in the Park
Community: Chatham
Event type: Arts celebration, Halloween event and community tradition
Businesses, organizations and residents create imaginative pumpkin figures that are displayed throughout Kate Gould Park. Visitors can explore the outdoor exhibit while visiting downtown Chatham.

Chatham Oktoberfest
Community: Chatham
Event type: Food festival, arts and crafts festival and community celebration
This family-friendly downtown festival at Kate Gould Park and the Town Hall parking lot includes entertainment, vendors, food, seasonal activities and a children’s area.

Fall River Halloween Family Festival
Community: Fall River
Event type: Halloween event and community celebration
A free family festival with costumes, seasonal entertainment and children’s activities. Fall River is located directly along the western Massachusetts portion of US Route 6.

Wellfleet OysterFest
Community: Wellfleet
Event type: Food festival, maritime heritage celebration and arts and crafts fair
This major Outer Cape tradition celebrates Wellfleet’s shellfishing community with oysters, culinary demonstrations, educational programs, vendors, arts and crafts and the popular oyster shucking competition.

Wicked at Wicks Halloween Celebration
Community: Falmouth
Event type: Halloween event, costume parade and historical celebration
The Falmouth Museums on the Green hosts children’s Halloween activities and a costume parade in a historic setting. The 2026 event is scheduled for October 30.

Mashpee Commons Halloween Party, Parade and Trick-or-Treating
Community: Mashpee

Families can participate in a costume parade, seasonal party and trick-or-treating throughout Mashpee Commons.

Wellfleet-Eastham Trunk or Treat Festival
Community: Wellfleet and Eastham area
Event type: Halloween festival and community tradition
Decorated vehicles, costumes, candy and family activities create a community-centered Halloween celebration close to US Route 6. The 17th annual festival is scheduled for October 31, 2026.

Provincetown Halloween Weekend
Community: Provincetown
Event type: Holiday celebration and annual community tradition
Provincetown closes October with costume events, entertainment, parties and themed activities at the eastern end of US Route 6. Individual program schedules vary by venue.

October Farmers Markets

Orleans Farmers Market
Community: Orleans
Event type: Farmers market and agricultural event
This year-round market offers locally grown produce, seafood, baked goods and other Cape Cod products. Saturday market hours continue through October.

Provincetown Educational Farmers Market
Community: Provincetown
Event type: Farmers market and community tradition
The seasonal Saturday market continues through October 31 and features local produce, prepared foods and regional products.

Additional October Activities

Wellfleet historical and ghost tours: October programs traditionally include historic district walks, cemetery tours and evening ghost tours.

Cape Cod cranberry harvest viewing: Working cranberry bogs across southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod are active throughout October. Viewing is generally available from public roads or through scheduled farm tours.

Pick-your-own apples and pumpkins: Farms near Wareham, Sandwich, Barnstable and other communities offer apple picking, pumpkin patches, hayrides and harvest activities during October.
