Explore US Route 6 Events by State

Planning a road trip along US Route 6 just became more interesting.

The US Route 6 Tourist Association has introduced a new Events of Interest feature designed to help travelers discover festivals, fairs, car shows, farmers markets, parades, rodeos, heritage celebrations, and other annual events in communities along US Route 6.

Instead of simply deciding where you want to travel, you can now ask another question:

What is happening along US Route 6 when I am there?

Discover Events Along US Route 6

US Route 6 crosses 14 states from Massachusetts to California, connecting hundreds of communities with their own celebrations, traditions, and special events.

The new Events of Interest pages provide a convenient starting point for discovering these activities and incorporating them into your travel plans.

Choose a State and Start Exploring

Events are organized by state so you can concentrate on the section of US Route 6 you plan to travel.

Explore events in:

Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and California.

Within each state, events are organized chronologically, making it easier to see what is happening throughout the year.

That can be especially helpful when planning a seasonal road trip.

A spring journey might lead you to a community festival, farmers market, or parade. Summer could bring a classic car show, rodeo, county fair, air show, or outdoor celebration. Fall and winter offer opportunities to discover harvest festivals, heritage celebrations, holiday events, and other seasonal traditions. (US Route 6 Happenings)

Make an Event Part of Your Road Trip

An Event of Interest can be much more than a stop on your itinerary. It can provide the reason for taking the trip in the first place.

Imagine discovering a festival in a town you have never visited. You attend the event, then explore the historic downtown, visit a museum, have lunch at a locally owned restaurant, photograph a roadside attraction, and continue exploring US Route 6.

Suddenly, one event has become an entire day of discovery.

That is one of the goals of the new feature. The Events of Interest pages are not intended to be simply another event calendar. They are designed to connect events with the larger US Route 6 travel experience

Discover Communities You Might Otherwise Miss

Some of the most memorable US Route 6 experiences can be found in communities travelers might not originally have included in their plans.

A county fair, classic car show, community parade, arts festival, rodeo, farmers market, or historical celebration can introduce you to one of those places.

While you are there, you may discover local businesses, museums, restaurants, historical sites, parks, shops, and other attractions worth exploring.

Your road trip may begin with an event and end with the discovery of a community you want to visit again.

Supporting Communities Along US Route 6

Visiting these events also helps support the communities that give US Route 6 its distinctive character.

Annual events frequently depend on volunteers, civic organizations, nonprofits, local businesses, chambers of commerce, historical societies, and community groups. Travelers attending these events can contribute to the local economy by visiting restaurants, shops, museums, attractions, and lodging establishments.

Exploring an Event of Interest is therefore another way travelers can help support the people and places that keep the story of US Route 6 alive.

Check Back Throughout the Year

Because many Events of Interest are annual or recurring, this resource can continue growing and becoming more useful.

An event you discover today could become the centerpiece of next year’s road trip.

Even when you do not have a destination in mind, you can use the Events of Interest pages for inspiration. Pick a state, browse its events, and see where US Route 6 takes you.
